For us the sound is always in the foreground. When it sounds good, we like to listen. To get such a sound, you need experience and technical finesse. We have incorporated both into the Series One.<\/p>\n

Discrete preamplifiers<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Pre One is equipped with two preamplifiers. These have a discrete design and they are tuned for an open and transparent sound characteristic. In addition to the microphone input, the second preamplifier also features a Hi-Z instrument input \u2013 so instruments like electric guitars, for example, can benefit from the sound of the Pre One.<\/p>\n

In terms of technology and sound, the preamps have the same characteristics
\nas those in the SPL Channel One Mk3!<\/p>\n

The gain control can be used to adjust the preamplifcation. The control range ranges between
\n+8 dB and +62 dB \u2013 so even really demanding microphones can unfold their full potential!
\n(The green signal LED indicates that a signal is present.)<\/p>\n

High-pass filter<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n

A high-pass filter with 6\u00a0dB per octave is available in both preamp sections and reduces subsonic noise below 80 Hz when activated. This low-cut filter can be used for the microphone inputs as well as for the instrument input on the second amplifier.<\/p>\n

Both preamplifers have a 48V switch. This switch activates the required phantom power of 48 volts for the use of condenser microphones.<\/p>\n

The phase reverse function of every preamplifiers reverses the polarity of the signal. After pressing the switch, the phase is reversed by 180\u00b0.<\/p>\n

Flair \/ Contour \u2013

For each of the two preamps, Flair and Contour provide an analog EQ preset to perfect the sound.<\/p>\n

When Flair is activated, it gives the signal an incredibly beautiful range of high frequencies \u2013 silky highs is the key word here.<\/p>\n

When Contour is activated, the signal perfectly blends into a compact mix while retaining its natural presence and strength.<\/p>\n

PAD<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The PAD switches for each preamp section are located as DIP switches on the rear of the Pre One. These activate an attenuation of the signal of the microphone input by 20 dB, so that even very high levels can be processed with the Pre One. This is the case, for example, with loud
\npercussion or brass recordings.<\/p>\n

Two microphones can be connected to Pre One and
\nbe amplified simultaneously. The microphone inputs are are equipped with Neutrik XLR sockets and goldplated contacts. The signal transmission is electronically balanced, at a nominal level of +0\u00a0dBu.<\/p>\n

The preamplifier 2 of the Pre One also features an ultra low-noise Hi-Z instrument input \u2013 so instruments with a Hi-Z signal, such as electric guitars, electric basses or various synthesizers, can also benefit from the sound of the Pre One. If an instrument is plugged into the instrument input, mic input 2 is deactivated.<\/p>\n

Each of the two microphone preamps has a separate line output. These outputs are designed as balanced TRS socket and can therefore be ideally connected to all audio interfaces.<\/p>\n

Good sound always starts with the power supply. This is where you lay the foundation for the performance of
\nthe entire device. Although we \u201conly\u201d supply a 12 V plug-in power supply unit, the secondary power supply inside generates a voltage level of +\/-17 volts for the analog audio sections with which professional levels of up
\nto +22.5 dB can be achieved!<\/p>\n

An elaborate low-drop operating voltage regulation provides more \u201cjuice\u201d and regulates cleanly
\neven when the maximum operation voltage is reached.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n
