This unit incorporates a proven high power DC voltage offset removal circuit packaged in a RFI
\nand EMI blocking, magnetically shielded case.
\nTo provide more flexibility and greatly increased integrity when connecting more than one
\ncomponent, the PBDC SYMMETRY has 4 output sockets, each connected in star format to a
\nsingle uniform point, with the earth connections also star connected the single star point. The
\nearth\/ground star point can also be accessed via the 4mm terminal socket on the case.
\nStar connection avoids the \u201cDaisy Chaining\u201d of power to the sockets as occurs with ordinary
\npower strips and with outlets arranged along a wall and brings considerable sonic benefits.
\nWith the PBDC SYMMETRY for example; two mono block amplifiers, a preamp and a source
\ncomponent can be connected to the mains in star format with all the advantages this brings in
\naddition to the considerable benefit gained from DC removal:
\nRemoving DC enable transformers to function at greatest efficiency and lowest noise.
\nComponent parts of your HiFi system take High Voltage Alternating Current from your wall
\nsockets and transform it to a lower voltage which is then converted to Direct Current to operate
\nthe item. A transformer can be viewed as an electromagnetic pump. With AC power, volts rise
\nto a high positive voltage, fall through zero rising to an equivalent negative voltage and falling
\nback to zero repeating 50 or 60 times every second. A transformer has a laminated steel core,
\nwhen the voltage rises on the mains (primary) side the transformer converts the electrical
\nenergy to magnetism. The secondary side of the transformer takes this magnetic energy and
\nconverts it back into electricity. Maximum efficiency is only achieved if the \u201cmagnet\u201d can be fully
\ncharged with the maximum voltage and completely collapsed to zero \u2013 a full stroke of the
\npump. If there is any DC present on the mains, as there almost always is , the pump cannot
\nachieve a full stroke and so full output power is not achieved. In addition to this the
\ntransformer cores will often buzz noisily.
