Kuopio, Finland \u2013 March 12, 2021 \u2013\u00a0<\/b>Finnish loudspeaker manufacturer Amphion has announced a long-waited upgrade to their BaseTwo25 low-frequency extension system. The new version of BaseTwo25 combines the best attributes of Amphion\u2019s previous Base extender packages into a single product. BaseTwo25 gives users the ability to transform their connected 2-way monitor systems into seamless full range 3-way system, increasing the\u00a0headroom,\u00a0midrange detail and resolution while providing clarity and\u202f<\/span>insight in the lower octaves. Performance and flexibility of the system is further increased by adding some upgraded features. The new version of BaseTwo25 is available and shipping now.<\/p>\n

Familiar, yet forward-thinking<\/b><\/p>\n

In keeping with previous systems, BaseTwo25 has the same familiar feel and operation, but with added features for extra control and flexibility.\u00a0 The upgraded BaseTwo25 combines the double-sided extenders from the previous flagship system with a new BaseAmp1200.\u00a0 The 2U sized BaseAmp1200 houses the crossover electronics with a powerful amplifier\u202f<\/span>(2 x 700 watts) for superior control, speed and headroom.\u00a0 As a new feature the system allows using four different crossover settings (40hz, 60hz, 80hz, 100hz) to achieve the best possible integration for various monitor and placement combinations.\u00a0 The bypass option of\u202f<\/span>the new BaseAmp1200 can be operated with a button on the front panel or a footswitch which allows using monitors independently, or as part of the full range system. This flexibility is highly useful for wide range of sound making\u202f<\/span>tasks from music to post-production.\u202f<\/span><\/p>\n

For maximum precision and power, each extender is equipped with two 10\u201d back-to-back woofers. The force cancelling woofers, which\u202f<\/span>are assisted by matching\u00a0passive\u00a0radiators, contribute to maximum impact and clarity. BaseTwo25 loads the room evenly, which makes it suitable even for smaller rooms. With previous models the Base extenders always needed to be placed under the monitors as stands. Now the selectable crossover provides integration even when extenders are placed behind a large format console, while keeping the monitors on the meter bridge. Even if the system is most suitable for One18 and Two18, the BaseTwo25 can be used with all Amphion and other 2-way monitors to create a powerful and seamless 3-way full-range system.<\/p>\n

The BaseTwo25 is a state-of-the-art monitoring solution converting any Amphion two-way studio monitor into a full-range, time and phase coherent, three-way system. These full-range towers extend all the way down to 20Hz. Each BaseTwo25 has 2 x 10 inch woofers (top) and matching 2 x 10 inch radiators (below) mounted in back-to-back force-canceling mode on both sides of the cabinet. The system is driven by single 2U rack mountable BaseAmp1200, which houses a 2 x 700W amplifier, and Amphion\u2019s discrete filtering module with a crossover selection and variable-level attenuator.<\/p>\n

In addition to providing tight, tuneful bass, BaseTwo25 improves midrange clarity and increases the midrange power-handling abilities of the paired monitors. This is achieved by reduced intermodulation distortion as the low-end frequencies are transferred from the monitors to the base extenders. The new selectable crossover provides integration even when extenders are placed behind a large format console, while keeping the monitors on the meter bridge. BaseTwo25 works with all Amphion products, as well as with monitors that have sufficient speed and resolution in the critical upper-bass\/lower-mid frequencies.<\/p>\n
