Epic 5 – The idea: A studio nearfield speaker that meets the most important needs:
– Strives for perfect reproduction in all criteria without neglecting any one important feature.
– Avoiding any design compromises.
– A design, technically up to date, aesthetically pleasing implementation, carefully balanced.
In-house development down to the last screw
It quickly became clear that virtually no mass-produced components could be used for the implementation of a conclusive overall concept.
After four years of development work we are ready with developing all individual components as well as our own manufacturing process for the Epic 5!
For an even sound reproduction, we paid much attention to a linear signal response and the temporal, harmonic aspects. In and out swing behavior is balanced across the entire bandwidth.
Equal material properties of the sound-forming components result in a homogeneous sound, none of the components gains the upper hand, which avoids having to artificially compensate any imbalances.
The Epic 5 gives a harmonious home to its perfectly balanced components — tweeters, woofers, passive radiators, amplifier electronics. It comes with a very elaborate, compact housing that is optimised for stiffness.
The wavefront timing of the components is mechanically aligned, they oscillate in phase and are phase-locked in the relevant frequency range.
Low noise guarantees a very high dynamic range – decaying signals, such as reverb tails or the fading out of guitar strings will not disappear in the noise floor.
From the very beginning, we opted for a purely analog signal routing with high-quality components.
Thus, the signal transmision takes place directly and unadulterated. Compensation using DSP calculation is rendered completely unnecessary.
