Soundfield aparece como compañia en 1993. Valiendose del concepto desarrollado por Alan Blumlein de la grabacion estereo conocida como Blumlein Stereo pair y de los posteriores desarrollos de la misma en la década de los 70‘s por Michael Gerzon/ Peter Craven; Soundfield es la propietaría intelectual, de patente y derechos esta tecnología microfonica encaminada a registrar un campo sonoro tridimensional.
Hoy en dia Soundfield goza de una excelente reputacion como fabricante de micros para grabación estereo o surround multicanal, minimizando los problemas derivados de las diferencias de fase que ocasionan el conocido problema del filtro de peine (distorsion y perdida de informacion sonora por cancelacion de fase).
